DWCS Season 10 Week 10 Preview: Bouts to Watch and Contract Predictions

The final card of Dana White's Contender Series Season 10 goes down Tuesday, October 13 at Meta Apex in Las Vegas. Five bouts are scheduled, headlined by a welterweight matchup between Luis Francischinelli and William Rentz. Broadcast begins at 7:00 p.m. ET on Paramount+.

Week 9 produced four UFC contracts — our full recap — and Week 8 handed out four more, all to fighters who finished their bouts. The message for this card is clear: decisions rarely impress Dana White.

Luis Francischinelli vs. William Rentz — Welterweight Main Event

The main event slot went to the welterweights. Francischinelli carries a 6-1 record. Rentz stands at 8-2.

The main event slot puts both men in front of the matchmakers for the maximum possible cage time. With a combined 14 wins between them, this is the most experienced pairing on the card.

Contract outlook: The main event has historically carried weight with White. A finish here almost certainly seals a contract for the winner.

Aline Pereira vs. Smilla Sundell — Women's Bantamweight

This is the name-value fight of the night. Aline Pereira, 35, is the younger sister of former two-division UFC champion Alex Pereira. She holds a 3-2 MMA record, and all three of her wins came by decision.

Her combat-sports resume runs deeper than the MMA record suggests. She went 6-2 in kickboxing, challenged for the GLORY super-bantamweight title, and captured the inaugural Karate Combat women's flyweight championship at 3-0 with two knockouts. Her most recent MMA outing was a split-decision win over Jade Masson-Wong in May at MVP MMA 1.

Across the cage stands a much younger opponent. Smilla Sundell is a 21-year-old Swede who became the youngest-ever Muay Thai world champion at 17 years and 161 days, winning and defending the ONE women's strawweight Muay Thai title. She is 2-0 in MMA, both wins by technical knockout under the Tuff-N-Uff banner.

Contract outlook: At 35 with a 3-2 record, Pereira likely needs a statement finish to join her brother on the UFC roster. Sundell is the more natural long-term prospect at 21 — and a knockout here would make her case undeniable.

Ilias Bulaid vs. Erick Visconde — Featherweight

This featherweight bout was supposed to open the Week 8 card on September 29. Bulaid made weight but fell ill hours before the event — a stomach and abdominal infection, not a weight-cut issue — and a UFC doctor ruled him unable to fight. The bout was rescheduled for the Week 10 finale.

Bulaid, a Dutch-Moroccan kickboxer who competed for K-1, brings an unbeaten MMA record through Bellator and UAE Warriors. Visconde is the more seasoned mixed martial artist: 17-3, and he captured the vacant LFA featherweight title in May.

Contract outlook: Both men fit the profile White signs. Visconde has to be the favorite given the experience gap, but an undefeated Bulaid with a finish would be hard to pass over.

Douglas da Lapa vs. Davi Cabral — Middleweight

The only undefeated-versus-undefeated matchup on the card.

Somebody's zero is gone. The winner leaves 7-0 or 8-0 — and White consistently rewards undefeated prospects.

Contract outlook: The winner is in a strong position — White has a documented fondness for undefeated prospects. A finish would make it a formality.

Jason Asher vs. Gregory Foster — Lightweight

The opener pits two more promising records against each other.

Foster carries more cage experience with nine professional bouts to Asher's five. Opening the show means a smaller audience — which usually means the fighter needs to do something memorable to get noticed.

Contract outlook: Asher at 5-0 is the archetypal DWCS signee if he finishes. Foster, at 8-1, has the deeper resume and likely needs to win convincingly to offset his one loss.

The Season 10 Contract Picture

Season 10 has been generous with contracts — and finishes have been the currency. Week 8 awarded all four winners, Week 9 awarded four of five, and the one fighter passed over was the only one to win by decision. Ten fighters compete on the finale night. History says most will need to finish.
