Arman Tsarukyan keeps winning, and the lightweight division keeps running out of reasons to make him wait. His first-round elbow knockout of Mauricio Ruffy at UFC 331 on September 19 was his fifth straight win — and the numbers behind the streak make the strongest title case in the division. Five straight, four finishes
Tsarukyan (24-3-0) has not lost since June 2022. The streak:
- Jun 2023 — KO/TKO over Joaquim Silva, round 3
- Dec 2023 — KO/TKO over Beneil Dariush, round 1 (1:04)
- Apr 2024 — split decision over Charles Oliveira at UFC 300
- Nov 2025 — submission (arm triangle) over Dan Hooker, round 2
- Sep 2026 — KO/TKO (elbow) over Mauricio Ruffy, round 1 (4:56)
Four finishes in five wins, across every phase of the game: punches, an elbow, and a submission. The Oliveira win deserves emphasis — "Do Bronx" is a former lightweight champion, and Tsarukyan beat him on the UFC 300 main card.
The 29-year-old — he turns 30 on October 11 — is in his physical prime, and his recent form is the mirror image of a contender being protected. His last two wins ended inside the distance against opponents who came to fight.
Even his rivals agree
Justin Gaethje, never generous with praise for potential opponents, said Tsarukyan is "next in line" at lightweight. Paddy Pimblett — who has his own history with the division's elite — reacted to the Ruffy win by insisting he'd "still punch his head in," which is as close to a callout as Pimblett gets. With Ilia Topuria coming off his loss on the White House card and working his way back, the top of the division is in flux. That is exactly when a 24-3 contender on a five-fight streak — with a win over a former champion and finishes in four of five — becomes impossible to ignore.
The case, summarized
- Record: 24-3-0, unbeaten since June 2022
- Streak: 5 wins, 4 by finish (2 KO/TKO round 1, 1 KO/TKO round 3, 1 submission)
- Best win: split decision over former champion Charles Oliveira, UFC 300
- Momentum: back-to-back finishes (Hooker, Ruffy)
Title shots are politics. But if they were math, Arman Tsarukyan would already be champion. Fighter page: Arman Tsarukyan.
